It is role shuffling time for the senior management in Flipkart. This was communicated to the employees by the CEO Kalyan Krishnamurthy in an email. Established in 2007 by Sachin and Binny Bansal Flipkart has today become India’s largest e-commerce portal for selling and buying every imaginable consumer goods.
The shuffling is allegedly done to bring in a new perspective to the businesses that Flipkart has while tapping new business. Allegedly, Flipkart has plans to enter the Business to Business segment and is gearing up for it.
Flipkart is owned by Walmart and has made quite a few acquisitions in a bid to bring in all the dimension of retailing on to the portal. Moreover, with competition getting tighter, the organization is looking at restructuring to cut loses.
Jabong was an e-commerce platform that was active until 2016. However, it was not doing well and was sold to Flipkart. Now the jabong portal visitors are being redirected to Myntra. Jobong is finally be phased out. Flipkart acquired Myntra in 2014.
The reshuffling of the senior management will now see Manish Kumar VP Busines development move to Private label business.
Ajay Yadav, Head of large appliances and mobile businesses, will look after Electronics business.
Amongst all the reshuffles and restructuring of businesses, It is also being said that Flipkart may acquire Walmart’s cash and carry business in India. The business on its own is not doing well in India.
Adarsh Menon, Senior Vice President and Head of Category Design Operations will now move out to a new business venture of Flipkart. Till now he was looking for private brands, electronics and furniture.
