Vietnamese and Japanese firms shared data about and cooperation experience in new technologies during Japan ICT Day 2019 that unlocked in the central city of Da Nang on October 22. They also touched upon ways to progress human resources in service of IT collaboration and improve the capacity, scale, and quality of cooperation schemes.
The two-day event enabled business networking, apart from exchanges. The event also included exhibitions introducing products and answers of Vietnamese and Japanese enterprises. On this event, the Vietnam-Japan IT Cooperation Committee and the IT Innovation and Strategy Centre of Okinawa prefecture of Japan engaged a memorandum of understanding on cooperation. In his inaugural remarks, Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Le Trung Chinh stated Da Nang has set up supportive ties with Japanese cities like Yokohama, Nagasaki, and Kisarazu and partners.
Japan is the largest foreign investor in Da Nang, with 177 projects worth over 800 million USD, making up 25 percent of the total foreign direct investment (FDI) in the city, Chinh stated. Besides, Japan is also the biggest software export market of IT firms in Da Nang, adding up for more than 36 percent of the market share, he stated. Chinh told activities within the framework of Japan ICT Day 2019 are estimated to help expand cooperation between Vietnamese and Japanese businesses in the IT segment, especially digital transformation, big data, and Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality (AR/VR), among the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Da Nang is now the IT center of Vietnam’s central area, with 93 percent out of over 3,800 businesses operating in the software and IT segment.
